GDOT delays Bass Road closure in Macon for bridge reconstruction

The intersection will be closed for about 180 days to demolish and reconstruct the bridge and approaches over Norfolk Southern Railroad.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has pushed back the start date of the closure of Bass Road (CR 742) from the intersection of Rivoli Drive to Forsyth Road (U.S. 41) for through traffic to February 25.

The intersection will be closed for about 180 days to demolish and reconstruct the bridge and approaches over Norfolk Southern Railroad.

According to a news release, residents who live within the road closure will still have access; however, there will be no access to cross the bridge, and drivers will be required to enter on the side of the closure where they live. The detour will direct traffic onto Rivoli Drive and Forsyth Road to circumvent the Bass Road closure.
