Robins AFB Losing 516 Positions

Leaders at Robins Air Force Base are working to cut 516 civilian positions.

In a news conference Thursday morning, Major General Robert McMahon announced how a nationwide Air Force restructuring plan would impact Robins AFB. McMahon says the military predicts it will save $400 billion over the next ten years.

About 600 employees will be asked to voluntarily retire or quit and offered incentives to do so.

41NBC‘s Dustin Wilson is in Warner Robins today covering this story and will have a full report tonight at 6 on the cuts and reaction from local leaders on how those cuts are expected to impact the region’s economy.
