GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested Friday morning after a two-car accident in Jones County, according to a news release.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy responded to the crash on Gray Highway near Creekside. The deputy made contact with one driver, who said he rear-ended another vehicle when it suddenly stopped in the road.

The deputy then checked on the driver and passenger of the other vehicle, but the driver attempted to flee. The deputy ordered him to stop and roll down his window, where the smell of marijuana was detected.

The driver, Rayshawn Tenale Shipman of North Carolina, asked the deputy why he was being stopped, claiming he didn’t realize he had been in an accident.

Shipman was taken into custody and charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license. He also has a hold from the ATF for weapons offenses.
