How to Help Prepare Elderly and Disabled for Emergency

President Obama named November National Family Caregivers Month.  The Deputy Director of the Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency Mark Wynn joined us on the 41NBC news to remind you that now is the time to turn to GEMA’s Ready Georgia program to prepare your loved ones for the unexpected.

Ready Georgia is honoring caregivers across the nation for providing support and compassion to the elderly and those with special needs. GEMA wants to help you better prepare your friends and family in case disaster strikes.

A 2010 study done by Ready Georgia found 80% of Georgians are very willing to help an elderly or disabled family member prepare for a large scale emergency. The study found 73% of Georgians said they are very willing to help an elderly or disabled neighbor or friend get ready. Ready Georgia wants to make sure you know how to help these people.
