Monroe County Dedicates Memorial to Local Veterans

Monroe County honored their hometown heroes today by dedicating a memorial to the veterans who served from their community.

A marble monument with the names of those who served in all areas of the military now stands in the center of Forsyth. Veterans living in Monroe County say feel honored that those who pass by will think about what it means to live in the land of the free.

“A part of history whether it’s what the country’s been through, or what Monroe County Veterans have served. Remember for the future and future generations to come,” says Army Veteran, Gary Bell.

The names of all the veterans who are still living in Monroe County, and those who lost their lives fighting for our country. They are all a part of this new addition to the square.
