South Macon celebrates new First Choice Primary Care facility
Katherine Mcleod, the CEO of First Choice Primary Care, says there’s currently a doctor and nurse practitioner seeing patients each day, and the facility will soon have a pharmacy and provide mental health services as more staff is hired as well.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — South Macon residents now have a permanent medical facility for primary care.
On Tuesday, local officials and community members gathered for a ribbon cutting at First Choice Primary Care-South Macon, located at 3061 Houston Avenue.
Katherine McLeod, the CEO of First Choice Primary Care, says south Macon is an underserved healthcare community with barriers that include transportation. She hopes the new facility puts treatment within walking distance for people who need it most.
“We have a doctor and a nurse practitioner who see patients every day,” McLeod said. “It looks like a regular doctor’s office, but we do a little more than that as a community health center. Eventually we’ll have a pharmacy here too, and we’ll be adding some additional staff and a mental health provider here also.”
