Inmate at Dooly State Prison found dead, investigation underway

The inmate was found dead around 6:15 a.m. on January 12.

DOOLY COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An inmate at the Dooly State Prison was found dead on Sunday following an altercation with another inmate, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC).

According to the GDC, the inmate was identified as a 45-year-old Joshua Parrott. Parrott was found dead around 6:15 a.m. on January 12.

According to Dooly County Coroner Brett Walls, next of kin has been notified. The autopsy will be performed on January 15 and the investigation is ongoing

Parrott was serving life with parole for murder out of Coffee County.
