Gov. Perry Beefs Up National Campaign Staff

WASHINGTON – Texas Gov. Rick Perry is beefing up his campaign staff with veterans of presidential elections and is ready to start running ads in Iowa.

Perry’s campaign has struggled in recent weeks. The initial round of senior staff hires is focused on paid TV advertising and includes former Bob Dole strategist Tony Fabrizio.

Perry is ready to start that on-air effort on Tuesday with a week-long ad buy in Iowa.

Campaign spokesman Ray Sullivan says the new staff boosts the campaign’s media team but will also help with other aspects of the campaign. He says the team is still being finalized.
