New technology academy opens in Macon, preparing students for the workforce

The Bibb County School District and County officials celebrated a new extension of Hutchings College Thursday morning, the Innovation and Technology Academy.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A new academy will soon give high school students a head start in growing industries, like Electric Vehicle Manufacturing, Robotics and AI/Cyber Security.

The Bibb County School District and County officials celebrated a new extension of Hutchings College Thursday morning: the Innovation and Technology Academy.

The academy is part of the school district’s Career, Technical and Agricultural Education programs or CTAE for short.

41NBC spoke with THE Executive Director of CTAE and Hutchings College, Dr. Cassandra Miller-Washington.

She says classes are designed to get students workforce ready.

The Robotics Pathway starts in January 2025 and more pathways will be available in August.
