Alexander II Elementary School Hosts ‘March of Dimes, Save a Baby’ Walk

In their annual fall fashion, students and faculty of Alexander II Elementary School, took to the streets of downtown Macon to raise money and awareness for babies born prematurely.

The group assembled outside the school and performed a dance routine, then hit the pavement for a one mile walk around Tattnall Square Park.

The entire student body of more than 500 students took part in the walk.

School P.E. teacher, Coach Jim Mills, called today’s walk the ‘Walk-Mania’.

“We have pre-mature babies up on the front, on the banner, that are with us at Alexander II that have benefited from the March of Dimes. So that’s going to be special as well. They get to carry the banner with their parents up front.”

The money collected will be counted next week, but Mills says they always have a good turnout from supporters, and he expects nothing less again this year.
