Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful to announce Art and Essay contest winners

41NBC spoke to KMBB Executive Director Asha Ellen, she said the contest is an effort to teach kids why it's important to keep the community clean and green.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Winners will soon be announced for Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful’s “Why Clean Streets Matter” Art and Essay contests.

41NBC spoke to KMBB Executive Director Asha Ellen. She says the contest is an effort to teach kids why it’s important to keep the community clean and green.

In August, dozens of elementary school aged students submitted their vision for keeping Macon beautiful.

According to Ellen, the contest started during the pandemic, when visiting schools wasn’t an option.

All winners will be awarded ribbons.

First, second, and third place winners will also receive a monetary prize during a ceremony Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Douglass Theatre in downtown Macon.
