CENTERVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – People in the community had their resumes at the ready as 41NBC hosted a job fair at the Houston County Galleria Mall on Thursday.

Various businesses from air conditioning services to the Marines attended the event, which saw a good turnout.

Middle Georgia businesses urgently need to fill positions; some are short staffed while others need more experienced individuals.

We spoke with a few of the recruiters there.

“We’re a full service Sheriff’s Office. We have over 330 employees,” said Dalton Windham with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

“There’s several different divisions that we have at the Sheriff’s Office to progress throughout your career, and we have some of the best benefits that the law enforcement agency around has to offer,” he continued.

Windham says if you are not certified, they will send you to the academy to get certified. You can call the office with any questions about positions they offer at (478) 542-2080.

“I’m just glad to be a part of the community,” said Kelly Hannah, Service Manager for the South Fayetteville Office of Reliable Heating & Air.

“Yeah, this is a new area for us, and we are super excited to get to meet the folks in Macon, and hopefully some of them will become our team members,” said Sandi Reddick, Senior Talent Acquisition Business Partner with Reliable Heating & Air.

Reddick says they have been expanding into the Macon area and are looking to fill positions both experienced and non-experienced.

Hannah says you do need to be EPA certified for certain positions.

“We have a lot of positions open,” Bluebird recruiter Ayanna Dawson said. “We have CNC Machine Operators, Pressbreak Operators. We also have general labor positions available. We also have welders, forklift positions, and we do have a lot of professional positions available as well.”

The majority of people were interested in what Bluebird had to offer.

“I really do like the turn out,” Dawson continued. “We do need quite a few people, so hopefully this turnout will help us a lot. We are a good company, and we offer great benefits, and we care about our workforce. We really do.”
