Bike Walk Macon to host Macon’s Big Bike Ride 2024

Founder of Bike Walk Macon, Rachel Umana, says she wants the community to show up and get excited for the event.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bike Walk Macon is hosting Macon’s Big Bike Ride, which aims to raise awareness for the need for friendlier, safer, and healthier streets in Macon.

Macon’s Big Bike Ride will be November 1 at 300 Cherry Street. 

  • Kick-Off Party/Registration: 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Ride: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • After party: JBA Macon at 10 p.m.

Founder of Bike Walk Macon, Rachel Umana, says she wants the community to show up and get excited for the event. Umana adds that whether you’re new to biking or a seasoned pro, come be part of the movement.

Riders will  learn about the organization’s advocacy goals, and discover how to help improve streets. The ride is 7-miles through Downtown Macon.

Registration is $10 per person and kids under 10-years-old are free. If you need help with the registration fee, contact kaylee@bikewalkmacon.com.

Youth riders (16 and under) must ride with an adult. There can be 2 kids per adult. 

Attendees can also purchase the inaugural Macon’s Big Bike Ride t-shirt for $25. Umana says to bring your helmet, bike lock, bike lights, and water bottle. 

All riders are required to sign a waiver, wear a helmet, and have bike lights. There will be police escorts and route leaders.
