Piedmont Macon to offer low-dose CT lung screenings, raising awareness about lung cancer

The low-dose CT lung screenings will be November 20.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Piedmont Macon is offering low-dose CT lung screenings in an effort to promote early detection for lung cancer.

Director of Imaging Services for Piedmont Macon, Jay Montero, says lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths of all cancers.

Montero adding “Early detections of lung cancer can lead to a 6 to 10 times better outcome of 5 year survival rates.”

The low-dose CT lung screenings will be November 20. The price for the screening event is $160, but some insurances may cover this cost if you meet the following criteria:

  • Are you between the ages of 50-80?
  • Do you have a smoking history of at least 20 pack-years*?
  • Are you a current smoker or have you quit within the last 15 years?
