Piedmont Macon offers early detection services for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Piedmont Macon Medical Center and Piedmont Macon North Hospital are offering Saturday mammograms from now through the end of the year

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Piedmont Macon is raising awareness about breast cancer by encouraging screening for early detection and treatment during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Resident Physician at Piedmont Macon Medical Center, Dr. Darshit Patel, says the American Cancer Society estimates that more than 310,000 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in the United States, and 42,780 will die from the disease in 2024.

Piedmont Macon Medical Center and Piedmont Macon North Hospital are offering Saturday mammograms from now through the end of the year

At Piedmont Macon Medical, women can schedule Saturday mammograms for the following dates:

  • Oct. 5
  • Oct. 19
  • Nov. 2
  • Nov. 16
  • Dec. 7
  • Dec. 21

At Piedmont Macon North, mammograms can be scheduled for:

  • Oct. 12
  • Oct. 26
  • Nov. 9
  • Nov. 23
  • Dec. 14
  • Dec. 28

Dr. Patel says if you are uninsured and need a mammogram, there is a grant that provides underserved women in Middle Georgia with breast health screenings and diagnostics.
