Torrez " The Punisher " Finney Celebrates New Ufc Contract Signing In Macon

MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon native, former Jones County Defensive Lineman, and Ultimate Fighting Championship Middleweight fighter Torrez Finney was in Macon Thursday to celebrate his new UFC contract.  With family, including his mother, father, uncle, grandmother, and many others, along with friends and fans, “The Punisher” was happy to speak about his accomplishments before signing autographs and taking pictures for “The Punisher” faithful inside the Tubman Museum.

Finney spoke about his fights, his journey, and what it means to him to finally reach this stage in his career after multiple attempts. At only 25 years old, Finney doesn’t take his youth for granted and is blessed to be in a position where he can work his way up to battle for the UFC Middleweight Championship Belt.

“I’m excited for all the guys I get the opportunity to be able to compete against I really do believe I’m on that level” said Finney at the Tubman Museum Thursday.  “I’ve competed against some of the best in the world, guys that are world champions, former world champions; I’ve competed against them in the training room. I know where I stand. I know that I’m on that level and I didn’t say that after ‘The Contender’ series just to say it to be cocky, or who I am.  I’m saying that confidently.  I am on that level and I know where I can get, and I know where I’ll be able to get one day, and I really do believe I see that title around my waist one day.

Finney went on to say, “I feel like I’ve only been doing MMA fighting for four years, and in four years, that’s very fast to make it to the UFC, to anybody that really knows the sport.  Let alone, fought three times in the UFC ‘APEX’, three times in ‘The Contender’ series, so I’ve already done a lot things in a short time, and I’m only 25 {years old}.  I’m 10-0 as a professional, 25 years old, its really hard to get to in MMA, but were not taking anything that we do for granted.  We only try to enhance it to get better and I’m excited for whats ahead.  I can’t wait to get on this journey and show the world Torrez Finney is coming.”
