The Special guest speaker of the night was Georgia Southern Football Head Coach Clay Helton. He spoke on what it means to him to support development in these young athletes in Middle Georgia.
“Well, this is a special organization. Not only does it help the community, but it represents the great sport of football” said Coach Helton. “Its been doing this since 1946 of representing our great game, as well as helping the community, supporting high school athletics, and just a great place to come to on a bye week. We’ve signed 61 college football players in the last two years and 47 of those from the great state of Georgia, and the rest from the attached states. It’s an area that is so rich in high school talent, so well coached, that we choose to go that route to build a football team and its led us to two post season bowl games, and hopefully helps us contend for a conference title this year.”
