Montezuma Woman Facing Death Penalty Appeals

A Montezuma woman facing the death penalty in Peach County says her consitutional right to a speedy trial has been violated. 54-year-old Lillian Walker is accused of killing her aunt and cousin in June 2009. They were found stabbed to death in their Fort Valley home.

In August of 2009, a grand jury indicted Walker for murder, armed robbery and theft by taking of a motor vehicle.

She is now appealing to the state supreme court, claiming it took too long to grant her a trial. Walker will be in court Monday.
