New Community Forums Aim to Open Lines of Communication Between Residents and Officials
The Unionville Improvement Association is setting the stage to help keep Macon and Bibb County residents better informed.
The group will be hosting monthly forums, open to the public, to discuss things like local and state level politics.
Gerald Harvey is the man behind the idea, saying he noticed a trend of people not getting enough information during this past year’s elections.
“I found that we had a lot of misinformed and uninformed voters, as well as candidates,” Harvey explains. “This kind of got me to think about this particular type forum to open up…to have some more dialogue to educate the general public.”
The first forum is set to take place Thursday, September 29th at the Mercer School of Engineering.
State Senators Vincent Fort and Nan Orrock, and Mercer Political Science professors William Boone and Chris Grant will be the discussion panelists.
The forum is set to begin at 6:00p.m.
