Howard High School Teacher Recieves Honors

A local high school teacher is making the Bibb County School District proud.

Howard High School’s Marketing and Business Teacher Jason Weiss received state-wide honors for his innovative teaching programs.

“It’s very humbling, very, very humbling,” says Weiss.

Weiss was named Georgia’s Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher by the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education and by the Georgia Marketing Educators’ Association.

“It’s just amazing to me that I’ve been able and honored this way so early in my educational career.”

Howard High School Senior Deborah Howard says Weiss is the kind of teacher who goes the extra mile, especially when she campaigned for a state office in DECA.

“When it’s time for competition he comes before and after school and helps us to prepare, if we ever need anything, we know we can go to him,” says Howard.

Weiss’s students say they’re thankful to have a teacher like him and they owe getting ahead of the pack to his hands-on-teaching.

“He’s always there to help us, inside of class, outside of class, whether it has to do with school or not,” says Howard.

Weiss is currently in a graduate program at Georgia Southern University where he is pursuing an educational doctorate in Curriculum Studies with a focus on Multicultural Education.
