MEDC Works to Recruit and Retain Businesses

The Macon Economic Development Commission works with existing companies to retain them and recruits others to establish distribution centers in Macon and Bibb County.

MEDC’s Senior Vice President, Pat Topping says businesses are looking for certainty these days and the commission hopes to continue to recruit more industries to the area.

“We’ve got a real strong retention program where we go out there and interview and meet with companies to find out what their needs are and take their pulse, to see how we can address or assist with some of their plans,” says Topping.

Topping says his group has a strong recruiting program and they have already identified six industry areas they feel are good fits for Macon and Bibb County.

Those industries include: Automotive, Aerospace, Warehouse Logistics, Advanced Manufacturing, Shared Services, and Food Processing.
