Monroe Co. School Board Increases Property Tax

Monroe County taxpayers will receive a hike in school taxes.

The 7% increase will make the millage rate for the school board this year 14.987.

Monroe County School Superintendent Anthony Pack says the 7% increase is still better than the 13% jump that was originally proposed.

“We were concerned with an increase of that much so we were trying to decrease it to less than 15 mills as opposed to going up to, at that point, 15.667, so I think it’s a good thing we did not have to go as high as we initially proposed.”
