Macon Celebrates 70 Years of Otis Redding
Get your party shoes ready as Macon prepares to celebrate what would have been the 70th birthday of music legend, Otis Redding!
Mark your calendar, September 8-10 will be a fun-filled weekend all about remembering and celebrating Otis Redding and his music. People from all over are expected to flock to Macon for the three day event, but Redding’s daughter wants to make sure the Middle Georgia Community has a personal invite.
“What really makes this so important is to involve all of Macon, Georgia and for the people that are coming in from out of town, which there are so many stars and celebrities coming in and music company executives coming in from all over the world, and we want them to see that in Otis Redding’s hometown this is how we celebrate,” said Karla Andrews-Redding, daughter of Otis Redding.
Thursday-movie night. The Edge 14 in Macon will present the following free screenings.
4pm/7pm- “Dreams to Remember: The Legacy of Otis Redding”
6:30pm- “Shake! Otis Live at Monterey”

Friday– “Otis Redding Day.” You can celebrate in Third Street Park from 12pm-4pm. The free event will include music, ice cream, giveaways and more!
Saturday– The “Evening of RESPECT” tribute concert benefits the Big “O” Youth Educational Dream Foundation.
