Robins Air Force Volunteers March Through Middle Georgia In Memory of 9/11
U.S. Airmen from Robins Air Force Base are marching through Middle Georgia, in memory of those who died almost ten years ago on 9/11.
Tuesday, The 78th Security Forces Squadron began their 146 mile leg of a march that began on July 12, at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
Volunteers say the march is to remind people of the lives lost on September 11, and pay tribute to military personnel around the globe.
Senior Airman Steven Donohue says the memory of 9/11 is still fresh in his mind.
“The personal experience of 9/11 as a child gives this a lot of meaning to me,” says Donohue. “I haven’t necessarily learned anything else but to only remember the feelings I had as a child and now the respect that I have for everyone that serves in this military–the people before me, and the people that will be coming after me.”
The marchers will pass their flag onto Moody Air Force Base volunteers on Saturday in Louisville, Georgia. The march is scheduled to end on September 11 at Ground Zero in New York City.
