The Latest: Georgia official predicts presidential recount

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia’s top elections official says there will be a recount. That’s because the margin between Democrat Joe Biden and President Donald Trump is so small.

Biden now leads with about 1,500 votes after five million ballots were cast in Georgia.

The Associated Press has not declared a winner. State officials say the exact number of outstanding ballots is “unknowable” right now. Thousands of absentee and provisional ballots are still being tallied.

Voters alerted to problems can fix their ballots by 5 p.m., and thousands of other ballots sent to the military and citizens living overseas could be counted if returned by then.
