Four prison guards fired from Central State Prison for “intentionally” not stopping inmate assault
Tyrell Williams, Nelson Whitlow, Shanella Jones, and April Ramsey were all fired on September 10.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Four prison guards at Central State Prison in Macon were fired and accused of violating their oath by intentionally failing to act during an assault on an offender, according to Georgia Department of Corrections Director of Communications Joan Heath.
Tyrell Williams, Nelson Whitlow, Shanella Jones, and April Ramsey were all fired on September 10.
The GDC issued the following statement:
“As we continue to demonstrate, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for individuals who choose to ignore their oath and jeopardize our non-negotiable mission of public safety. Those that do not live up to this oath – regardless of rank – are terminated immediately and brought to justice. The actions of these individuals do not reflect the hundreds of Officers who are committed to ensuring the safety of the public and the safe operations of our facilities.”
41NBC requested more information but the GDC said “We will not be commenting further on the matter as it remains an active investigation.”
