Goodwill offers tips for upcoming career and job expo, showcases budget-friendly interview outfits
Goodwill will be hosting 'Get Ready to Get Hired Workshops' where attendees will cover topics such as making a great first impression, resume writing, and more.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Goodwill is set to host the Fall 2024 Career and Resource Expo. The event is September 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The career and resource expo will be at the Anderson Conference Center, located at 5171 Eisenhower Pkwy Suite D.
Senior Director of Career Services, Carlye Thompson, says she encourages attendees to utilize their resources ahead of the job fair.
Goodwill will be hosting ‘Get Ready to Get Hired Workshops’ where attendees will cover topics such as making a great first impression, resume writing, and more.
Get Ready to Get Hired Workshops:
- Tuesday, September 17 at 10 a.m. at Helms College (5171 Eisenhower Pkwy, Macon, GA 31206)
- Wednesday, September 18 at 1 p.m. at Helms Career Center (240 Broadway Macon, GA 31201)
Attendees will receive a voucher for 2 free clothing items from a Goodwill retail store.
Thompson says they live by their mission at Goodwill which is “We build lives, families and communities one career at a time by helping people develop their God-given gifts through education, work and career services.”
Thompson says another important part of the interview process is how you dress.
Regional Manager of Community Outreach, Brandi Hartness, says she encourages people to find basics when shopping for affordable clothes. Hartness encourages women to search for an affordable dress that you can accessorize with a blazer or jewelry. For men, Hartness says to find a pair of khakis and a button down.
Hartness encourages the community to shop the weekly sales at Goodwill.
Moss Musselwhite is a student at Wesleyan and took a college course that helped her dress for professional events. Musselwhite says she was able to find a business professional outfit at Goodwill for only $10.
