Georgia National Fair to host Annual Fair Food Drive, fair food coupons available for donors

The Fairgrounds will be accepting non-perishable food donations in exchange for fair food coupons.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia National Fair is partnering with the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank for the 3rd Annual Fair Food Drive.

The Fair Food Drive will be September 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgia Grown Pavilion at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.

The Fairgrounds will be accepting non-perishable food donations in exchange for fair food coupons.

According to Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter Marketing and Business Development Director, Maggie Lane, the first 500 participants who bring at least five non-perishable, in-date food items will receive $10 in coupons to use at participating food vendors during the 2024 Georgia National Fair.

A drive-thru donation drop-off point will be located inside the West Gate entrance.

Middle Georgia Community Food Bank President & CEO, Kathy McCollum, says there is also an option to donate online. The online fundraising campaign will close on September 6 at midnight.

McCollum says the food bank serves 24 counties and supports over 190 partner agencies.

Lane says they are needing canned goods (in-date), healthy and low-sodium options, kid-friendly snacks (such as Pop-Tarts, fruit cups, and mini cereal boxes), noodle pasta, rice, peanut butter, protein-rich foods, and canned meats.
