Mercer Football prepares for Presbyterian
The Mercer University Football team spoke to media Monday on how they have prepared for their season opener against Presbyterian

MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – The Mercer Bears football team held their weekly press conference Monday at Homer and Ruth Drake Field House ahead of their season opener on Thursday night at Five Star Stadium.
Head Coach Mike Jacobs, alongside fifth year Center Riley Adcock and sixth year Linebacker Ken Standley, spoke to media about how the team is preparing for Thursday. Jacobs has nothing but respect for his opponent and has seen some good things from the Blue Hose squad.
“They’re a really well coached football team” Coach Jacobs said at Monday’s press conference. “Coach Englehart, I had a tremendous amount of respect for him when he was at Florida Tech prior to them shutting the program down on him when COVID hit. You talk about a gentleman who led a program, in a tough Gulf South Conference, to the playoffs in back-to-back years. You see on film they are markedly improved from where they were since he took over. They have something like 17-22 starters coming back. They’re well coached, they’re veteran, they play extremely hard, they’re disciplined, they’re well schemed…this is a good football team.”
The Mercer Bears kickoff their season opener at home against Presbyterian Thursday night at 7 p.m.
