MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb County Health Department is gearing up to host a Community Baby Shower this weekend at the Memorial Gym. The event aims to support new and expecting mothers by providing essential resources and education to ensure they are fully prepared before the arrival of their little ones.

The shower will offer a range of activities and informational sessions and will include car seat checks, safe sleep classes and breastfeeding classes. In addition, more than a dozen vendors will be present, offering valuable resources and giveaways.

“We want you to go into your birth or raising your kid prepared,” coordinator and health educator at Safe Kids Central Georgia, Abbie Price, said. “And we don’t want to see anything bad happen to your kid, so through this event, we’re hoping not only for education but resources if you need help.”

The event, open to both new and expecting mothers, has already had an overwhelming response. More than 120 people have registered.

The first 75 people to register are eligible for a chance to win a free pack ‘n play.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. It’s happening at 2465 Second Street in Macon.
