Dublin Man Killed During Weekend Shooting
Dublin Police are working around the clock to solve a murder.
Neighbors say they heard a gun shot late Saturday night, near West Moore and Roosevelt Streets.
According to Dublin Police Chief Wayne Cain, the call came in at 11:37 Saturday evening. The bullet entered the left side of 31-year-old Broderick Butler’s chest. The officer who responded to the scene says no exit wound was found on the victim’s back.
Butler’s mother Janie Smith, says her son moved into the house at 109 West Moore Street about a month ago with his girlfriend.
He previously served time for drug use, but Smith says Butler had been out of prison for more than a year.
She says he was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back.
“He had a good heart, whatever he had he would give it to you and I feel like whoever took his life, I just want justice for that. I don’t want to hurt them, I just want them to see what they did to my child.”
Butler was sent to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
This case is still under investigation.
