C. Jack Ellis Will Face Mayor Robert Reichert In Runoff Election
Over at campaign headquarters for mayoral candidate C. Jack Ellis, a room full of supporters anxiously waited for a victory, and even before the final numbers were in, celebrations were already starting.
As results crawled across the television screen, supporters sat in anticipation hoping their leader would return to the city’s top seat. It wasn’t quite a victory, but the race isn’t over for Ellis who arrived at the headquarters just after a runoff election was declared between him and Mayor Robert Reichert.
“I will say that he did run a good campaign, we did as well. So we look forward, I look forward to the challenge, I look forward to the debates because after all he is not an enemy, he is an opponent. I am a retired military person. Your enemy you kill, your opponent you defeat, and we plan on defeating him. That’s what we plan on doing.”
Ellis says he is giving his team one day off before they get back on the campaign trail. He hopes that the next four weeks will encourage even more voters to head out to the polls in the runoff election that will take place on August 16th.
