Middle Georgia reacts to President Biden dropping out of 2024 race
Local Democrats and Republicans share reactions to Biden's exit and Harris' run for the presidency

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Some Middle Georgia voters are reacting to the news of President Biden dropping out of the race and Vice President Kamala Harris running for the Democratic ticket.
News of President Biden no longer seeking re-election sent shock ways across both parties. This comes after fellow Democrats urged President to Biden to step out of the race after his performance at the presidential debate last month.
The Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee sent a statement urging Democrats to come together to fight for freedoms and democracy. The statement said, “Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee urges local Democrats to remain focused on supporting Democratic candidates up and down the ballot who will fight for working families, expand access to healthcare and education, tackle the climate crisis, and safeguard our democratic institutions from Republican attacks.”
President Biden said he’s endorsing Harris to be the Democratic nominee for president and she’s quickly gaining support from other Democrats. Neisler said no matter the candidate on the other side, they’re still pushing for former President Trump.
“Until we know for sure who the nominee is, we’ll just keep campaigning, like we have been. Look at what Donald J. Trump stands for. I think he stands for every American, not just his base, but every American, and try to bring some safety and security back to this country,” he said.
The Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee said it will have volunteers organizing a get-out-and-vote initiative in the coming months.
