Macon Transit Authority changing route names to make more identifiable

The new bus route names will take place July 1.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority is renaming the bus routes to be more readily identifiable.

The new bus route names will take place July 1.

The revised routes are as followed:

ROUTE 1: Vineville will be VINEVILLE / ZEBULON ROAD
ROUTE 2 Bellevue Kroger will be NORTH NAPIER / ZEBULON ROAD
ROUTE 3 West Macon / Macon Mall will be WEST BIBB / VA CLINIC
* ROUTE 4, BLOCK 1 North Highland will be SHURLING / GRAY HIGHWAY / WALMART
* ROUTE 4, BLOCK 2 North Highland will be SHURLING / GRAY HIGHWAY / WALMART
ROUTE 5 Ocmulgee will be RIVERSIDE / TOM HILL SR.
ROUTE 6 Westgate/Bloomfield will be PIO NONO / ROCKY CREEK
* ROUTE 7, BLOCK 1 Eisenhower/Chambers Road will be EISENHOWER / WALMART
* ROUTE 7, BLOCK 2 Eisenhower/Chambers Road will be EISENHOWER / WALMART
ROUTE 8 East Macon will be EAST BIBB / JEFFERSONVILLE RD / HOUSTON AVE
ROUTE 9 Houston Avenue will be HOUSTON AVENUE
ROUTE 10 Ocmulgee Express will be NORTH BIBB/RIVER CROSSING
ROUTE 11 Bellevue Express will be LOG CABIN/ NORTH NAPIER

According to MTA,  ROUTES 4 & 7, BLOCK 1 & BLOCK 2 go to exactly the same places, the time schedules are different because these are 90-minute routes. MTA made this modification to provide riders with more frequent and varied travel options.
