MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fast food chain restaurant Jack in the Box is set to open five restaurants in the Macon market.

The move comes as part of the company’s expansion into the state of Georgia, with plans to open a total of 15 restaurants across the state.

Jack in the Box, headquartered in San Diego, is known for its burgers, tacos and milkshakes. The restaurants offers both breakfast and late-night snacking options.

In a recent interview with 41NBC, Van Ingram, the Vice President of Franchise Development for Jack in the Box, said the company is enthusiastic about its expansion into Georgia.

“We just see the opportunity to expand our brand into Georgia, into the southeast,” he said. “Fast growing areas. People are relocating to your city and other cities across the southeast, so we see it as a primary strategic area for us to grow our brands.”

While specific locations haven’t been announced, Jack in the Box said the focus will be on growing markets of Macon, Augusta and Savannah. Ingram says their franchisee plans to place five locations in Middle Georgia.

“You have Macon and then you have Milledgeville and some of the other smaller communities around the outside of Macon where we’re going to be able to draw people in, and that’s where we’re going to concentrate our development,” he said.

The new Jack in the Box locations will feature new building developments that prioritize the drive-thru experience.

“Dining rooms are becoming less utilized, so we continue to design our buildings, to design our site layouts to really capitalize on that third party delivery,” he said. “And people that go through the drive thru window.”

Customers can expect designated areas for pick-up options, mobile orders and the traditional drive-thru service.

While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the chain typically takes about a year to 18 months to establish new locations.

For those new to Jack in the Box, Ingram recommends trying the “Jumbo Jack” with a side of tacos, egg rolls and an Oreo milkshake!

The restaurant is open 24 hours a day.
