City Council Candidate Chris Horne Unveils Plans for East Macon
In what he called his “Six Month Pledge” city council candidate Chris Horne promised to take big steps in the revitalization of East Macon. He says his opponent Elaine Lucas has not done enough to improve East Macon’s image.
Horne said he hopes to duplicate the success stories of Beall’s Hill and Lynmore Estates. He plans to establish a “Blight Watch” Group with two purposes: to help the city focus its resources where the problems are and to improve the physical appearance of East Macon.
Horne proposes turning the 4-acre lot at Woolfolk St. & Norris St. into a park, as well as the 3-acre lot on Woolfolk St. by Fort Hawkins into a community garden.
“We have houses up and down Fort Hill, Sunnydale and Sparkle just falling apart–boarded up,” said Horne. “No one wants to live next to stuff like that…no one should have to, and I think just making that step in that direction, especially something that is city conrtolled, would make a huge difference.”
Horne pledged to meet his goals within the first six months of office.
