Minister Files Ethics Complaint Against Elaine Lucas

A former political opponent filed an ethics complaint against Macon City Council Member Elaine Lucas.

Reverend Victor Hunt says a recent Facebook post on Lucas’ page is personally attacking him.

Lucas’ Facebook post talks about a minister who is behind in child support,
with a drug problem and who is supporting a Democratic candidate.
Hunt feels they are personal attacks and false accusations that have nothing to do with her campaign.

Hunt believes Lucas’ comment goes back to 2007, when Hunt ran against her for council. He says Lucas has asked him on different occasions for his support, but he has chosen to support her opponent, Chris Horne.

Hunt says, “…my complaint is this, I have to do this from a ministerial perspective as a minister and I believe comments like this are an attempt to discredit my ministry, to discredit my calling and for that reason I felt obligated to take a stand against this.”

He wants a public apology from Lucas.

The State Ethics Commission will make a decision within the next three days whether to investigate or reject the complaint.

41 NBC tried to contact Elaine Lucas, but were not able to get a response.
