Little Richard House closed indefinitely
The closure comes after months of back-and-forth between the Macon-Bibb County Government and the Macon-Bibb Community Enhancement Authority regarding a missing financial audit and receipts.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Little Richard House Resource Center has closed indefinitely.
This comes after months of back-and-forth between the Macon-Bibb County Government and the Macon-Bibb Community Enhancement Authority regarding a missing financial audit and receipts. Robert Banks, who serves as the administrator of the Little Richard House, explained why he thinks it’s important for the house to reopen its doors sooner rather than later.
“This man was the pinnacle of this whole genre that he created from small beginnings in Pleasant Hill in Macon, Georgia,” Banks said. “And that’s something that we need to preserve so that other kids that go to like the school right across the street, L.H. Williams, can come over and say, ‘Hey, can I be like him? And the answer is yes.”
Banks says the family of Little Richard has been involved in efforts to keep the resource center open and that he is hopeful the home can thrive under new management in the near future.
