Giddings Murder: Police Focus Investigation on McDaniel, Offer $12,000 Reward
Macon Police announced this morning they’re sending new evidence to the FBI in connection to the Lauren Giddings homicide.
Macon Police spokesperson Jami Gaudet says the evidence was collected when “they conducted a search warrant Tuesday… of Stephen McDaniel”. Gaudet says a tip from the public led police to search McDaniel’s apartment again. A Thursday morning bond hearing for McDaniel’s has been cancelled. His attorney Floyd Buford filed conflict of interest paperwork against the Bibb County District Attorney’s office.
McDaniel was named as a person of interest in the homicide investigation.· He was Lauren Giddings’ neighbor.· Giddings’ dismembered body was discovered June 30th outside of their apartment building.·He’s being held in the Bibb County Jail on unrelated burglary charges.
Police Chief Mike Burns announced a $12,000 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of Giddings’ killer.
Warren Selby, Chairman with CrimeStoppers, says $11,000 has poured in through anonymous sources.
