Warner Robins City Officials Aim to Join Statewide ‘Clean Air Campaign’

If filling your gas tank every week is enough to drive you crazy, a non-profit organization could help ease the burden.

The Clean Air Campaign is a statewide initiative, which is paying people to carpool to work. It also offers incentives for people to stop driving to work, and bike or walk.

Warner Robins city officials, are looking to join the campaign, to benefit each of its more than 600 employees.

City Transportation Planner Jessica Bird is behind the initiative, and says she wants to get as many cars off the road as possible.

“Right now the city…employes a little over 600 employees. So if you have 600 employees that are driving just themselves to work, that can definitely cause a lot more cars to be on the road. Whereas, if you take even half of those off, it can greatly impact,” Bird says.

The campaign will pay people $3.00, up to $100.00, just to ride to work with someone else in their car. Basically, any person who has another rider in the car with them, can earn money and prizes to help offset the high cost of gas.

The Clean Air Campaign is not only for city employees. Anyone can join and earn the benefits of creating a cleaner environment.
