Salvation Army of Macon preparing for upcoming Donut Day

Since 1938, the Salvation Army has celebrated Donut Day every first Friday in June.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Salvation Army is preparing for National Donut Day on June 7.

National Donut Day was originally celebrated as a tribute to the “donut lassies” that supported our troops on the front lines during World War 1. The “donut lassies” made donuts for the soldiers to provide them a treat to comfort them. 

Since 1938, the Salvation Army has celebrated Donut Day every first Friday in June.

There are a few ways to show your support for National Donut Day.

  1. Scan the QR code to donate to the Salvation Army. Your donation will be used in Middle Georgia to support people in our community, who turn to the Salvation Army for help.

  2. You can also visit enter the 41NBC contest to win a dozen donuts from Tommy’s Bakery on Thomaston Road in Macon. Tommy’s is giving away 5 dozen through that contest
  3. Go to Tommy’s Bakery on Friday. 10% of all sales that day will go to the Salvation Army.
