MONICA- We have Lester Miller here. First off, I want to say congratulations. It’s wonderful having you here.
LESTER- Thank you. It’s my pleasure.
MONICA- Alright. This is a big night for you. Macon really showing out. Numbers pouring in. What does it mean to you to see folks voting for you and giving you support throughout this whole process?
LESTER- For me, it’s validation. It’s validation about all the great things we’ve been doing as a team the last 3 to 4 years. And, it gives me hope for the future, what we’re going to do for the next four years.
MONICA- I know folks are excited. We are seeing so much progress here in Macon. I mean, we just got a huge award. Macon is booming. You have done so much. We have the amphitheater a lot is owed to you. We want to say thank you for it also. What is next for you as mayor?
LESTER- What I’ll say is we’re not done yet. We have a lot more projects on the way. A lot more people are going to help out and we’re excited about new job announcements. I’m going to announce in the very near future, maybe next few days or so, so we can continue to grow as a community together. I look forward to being able to touch every zip code in Macon.
MONICA- Why is it so important to you that you see Macon’s growth? That you continue to be mayor? Why is it so important to you?
LESTER- It’s important to me because I’m a 55 year resident, born and raised in Macon. A lot of these people have been counting on someone to kind of help us get over that line.
I think as a team together. With me being the mayor, I think we’ve done that and a lot of people are excited about it. And what I hear about making, you know, these days are a lot of positivity. And that’s something we want to continue.
MONICA- For those folks that came out voted for you, showed that support what do you want to tell them?
LESTER- I want to tell them, first of all thank you. thank you for having faith in our administration. Thank you for showing up to vote when a lot of people did not. And thank you for being there and letting us think outside the box. Sometimes I just put our trust in us without knowing what was going to happen next. I think they’ve been rewarded by many projects in Macon.
