15-year-old dies in after-prom shooting, 17-year-old arrested in Fitzgerald

The GBI says this investigation is active and ongoing.

FITZGERALD, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A 17-year-old suspect is in custody following a shooting at an after-prom party in Fitzgerald, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The shooting, which occurred early Sunday morning, left one person dead and three others injured.

The shooting took place around 1:10 a.m. in the 300 block of East Pine Street. 15-year-old Chyell Paulk of Fitzgerald died from her injuries at a local hospital. A 19-year-old and two other minors were also shot and received medical treatment.

The arrested teenager faces charges of felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. All involved parties are from Ben Hill County.
