6 Arrested in Monroe County Drug Bust

Last night, the Forsyth-Monroe County Drug Task Force brought in·five offenders who were indicted on federal drug charges. Sergeant Shawn Knight, of the task force, says its an effort to clean up the streets in Monroe County.

“Kynette Park has been an eye sore in the community for quite some time now.”

Tuesday night, the drug task force brought in the biggest number of offenders to date. Five people, already indicted on federal drug charges, were arrested.

“About 5 o’clock in the morning we began a round up that lasted until late last night,” says Knight.

Two weeks ago the task force received five federal indictments for drug possession, Eugene Grier, Steve Harrison, Clemon Eddie Piyon, Lizzie Mae White, and Terrie Wooten. Another offender, Chadwick Germaine Brown, who’s been in custody for weeks, was also indicted for maintaining a drug residence on Kynette Street.

“Our goal here is to make as an aggressive of a prosecution as we can to get as many of the repeat offenders out of our community,” Knight.

Knight says the investigation is still ongoing in this area and in other parts of the county.
