Man Living Near Homicide Crime Scene Arrested

Macon Police arrested Stephen Mark McDaniel of 1058 Georgia Avenue, Apartment 4 on burglary charges this morning.

Based on the Bibb County Sheriff’s office inmate information website, he was booked into the jail at 4:50am.

Macon Police and investigators from several other law enforcement agencies have been combing the area around McDaniel’s apartment building, after discovering a female’s body there Thursday morning.

Investigators have determined the woman was killed, but have not released information regarding the manner of death or who she is.

Police found the body as they were going to 1058 Georgia Avenue, Apartment 2 to investigate a missing person case. Friends reported Lauren Giddings, a recent Mercer Law graduate, missing and told police they have not heard from her since Saturday.

Macon Police Chief Mike Burns tells us there are two persons of interest in the case, but he hasn’t released their names.

Police are continuing to investigate both the missing persons case and the homicide case separately, since they have not determined the identity of the female body discovered.
