Horne Blasts Opponent At City Hall
Macon City Council candidate Chris Horne accused his opponent and city council incumbent Elaine Lucas of using “negative campaign tactics” against his character at a city council meeting Tuesday. Horne also accused Lucas of making personal attacks via Facebook against his campaign manager Yolanda Latimore and his supporter Reverend Victor Hunt.
“I expected that sort of thing to come at me. I’ve had her spreading gossip about me–that’s fine,” Horne said. “I understand it’s politics, but there are two good people working with me because they chose to. It’s not a personal issue, it’s a political issue; and she went after them spreading lies.”
Lucas said she was shocked Horne used the city council meeting to address the issue.
“Republicans and Republican sympathizers always stoop to dirty tricks during campaigns and when they fall behind they always come up with some kind of political stunt–and that is all that this is—a political stunt,” she told reporters.
Lucas would not say either way whether she made the alleged attacks on Facebook.
