US Attorney: Macon Man Sold Fighter Jet Parts to Iran
This morning, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Macon announced that 7 people and five companies have been indicted in connection with exporting material for fighter jets and attack helicopters to Iran.
A company called The Parts Guy LLC maintained a warehouse at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon and supplied the parts, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. The president of the company, Michael Edward Todd was arrested last year in Atlanta and pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to violate the Arms Export Control Act.
He was charged for working to export parts for the Bell AH-1 attack helicopter, the UH-1 Huey attack helicopter, and F-5 and F-4 fighter jets without required export licenses.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Todd conspired with people and companies in Illinois, France, Dubai, the UAE, and Iran to export the parts. Ultimately, the parts were exported to Iran through a company called Aerotechnic, based in France.
