Mayor Candidate C. Jack Ellis Announces His Plan for Georgia Music Hall of Fame

In front of a group of supporters, mayoral candidate C. Jack Ellis made a big announcement regarding the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. He says along with his initiative to bring jobs to Macon, if elected, he will push to move the Chamber of Commerce to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

He hopes the soon-to-be vacant Hall of Fame would become what he calls an economic incubator. In addition to the Chamber of Commerce, Ellis also hopes the following agencies will move in:

  • Macon-Bibb Economic Development Commission
  • Macon-Bibb Industrial Authority
  • Macon-Bibb·Planning and Zoning·
  • Macon Film Commission
  • Macon Sports Complex

Ellis says moving these agencies to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame building will help the public and private sector work together to create more jobs in Macon.

“So, therefore it only make sense to me that the Chamber of Commerce and those responsible for the economic activities in our city would have a permanent address, not only a permanent one, but a prominent one, here on our main street, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.”

He also says, if elected, he would like to keep some of the music memoralbilia in the building.
