MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Third grade students at Alexander II Magnet School teamed up with Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful to plant seedlings at Tattnall Square Park on Georgia Arbor Day.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of trees in our environment.

Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful hopes activities like this will plant a seed early on in the kids’ minds about the importance of enhancing our environment and having a clean and green city.

During the event, students were enthusiastic about planting seedlings, and they learned the importance of taking care of trees.

“We hope that these students, after today, will continue to learn the importance of enhancing our environment and having a clean and green city,” Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Executive Director Asha Ellen said.

Each of the students was able to take their pots home, allowing them to continue nurturing the seedlings and watch them grow.
