Three Mile Island shuts down 40 years after partial meltdown
The Pennsylvania nuclear power plant closed for good at noon on Friday, with local officials lamenting the loss of 675 jobs. Barring those already under construction, no nuclear power plants have started in the United States since the nation’s worst nuclear accident four decades ago.
